Question: In wow are all the auction houses joined or are there seperate auctions for stormwind ironforge etc?

They are all joined, so if you go to an auction house at Stormwind, then Ironforge, the same things will be on the auction house apart form the things people have bought in between going to the different auction houses.

They're all joined, but there are separate ones that are joined in Booty bay, gadgetzan, etc.

The ones in the major cities (i.e Ironforge, stormwind, exodar) are shared together and just to your faction (alliance or horde). The ones in booty bay and gadgetzan are 'neutral' auction houses and they're shared between the two factions Horde and Alliance.

There all the same so it doesn't matter where u go to, but there can be some auction house that are shared by Horde and Alliance

Yes. The Gadget and BB AH's is a good way to send your horde or allied toon gold being you have 2 accounts. The Auctioneers cut of anything sold is insane 5k gold would cost you about 800-1k gold
